Function description:

As a Digital Hardware Engineer at Newtec, you will provide technical leadership in building cutting edge products for the Satellite Communication market.  Whilst creating next generation products within the Engineering and Product Department, you will play a key role as part of a product development team in jointly developing products from inception to production.

In this challenging role, you will:

• Be responsible for hardware design and verification throughout the product lifecycle, transitioning product to manufacturing
• Ensure the designs meet all of the defined requirements and are manufacturable
• Partner with cross-functional product development team members to lead and participate in product design reviews and establish achievable, aggressive manufacturing cost targets for new products
• Lead PCB component placement and routing
• Oversee the manufacturing of prototypes and lead their functional testing
• Contribute to manufacturing, environmental and accelerated life/stress test procedures
• Facilitate compliance efforts required to obtain safety agency approvals (UL, CE, CSA, FCC, etc)
• Document designs using schematic capture software
• Provide second line support during product lifecycle

The Digital Hardware Engineer reports functionally to the Project Manager and interacts internally with the Digital Hardware Competence Manager, Product Managers, Production Engineers, Software Engineers, Test Engineers and Industrialization Engineers.

You hold a Master Degree in Electronic Engineering with a minimum of 5 years experience in a hardware design environment with a proven track record of completing projects on time and under budget.  You are fluent in English; Dutch/French is an asset.

You have in-depth knowledge of:

• High end digital hardware design (eg SDRAM, PCI, microcontrollers, FPGA …)
• VHDL based FPGA design
• Design to price, performance and time to market targets
• Software development and software-hardware interactions
• High speed analog and RF design is an asset
• PCB Production and testing
