The Russian Satellite Communications Company (RSCC) and the Saudi-German Telecommunications Company Detecon Al Saudi (Detasad) have signed an Agreement of leasing a 54 MHz transponder on the Express-AM22 satellite (53 East) in order to establish a high-speed backbone link between Austria and the Middle East using Newtec DVB-S2 equipment.

Newtec today announces that it successfully demonstrated its latest-generation DVB-S2 product during a lab test campaign organised at the RAI Research Center in Turin, during the second half of June 2006. Newtec DVB-S2 product series, including professional DVB-S2 modulators, demodulators and modems, is the first and (as of this date) only commercially-available equipment that implements the Adaptive Coding and Modulation (ACM) and the 32 APSK options of the DVB-S2 standard.
