Newtec to Provide Sat3Play® Technology for Sub-Saharan Skyevine Broadband Network

South African company SkyeVine, which provides broadband services in the sub-Saharan Africa region via Intelsat’s New Dawn, has signed a major new deal with Newtec. SkyeVine is currently in the prelaunch phase and is rolling out test sites of the Newtec Sat3Play® terminals in several African countries including Mozambique, Botswana, Angola, South Africa, Nigeria, Zambia, South Sudan and Zimbabwe.

Steve Rich, CEO of SkyeVine commented: “Having tested the Newtec terminals across Sub- Saharan Africa, they have exceeded our expectations and will deliver an excellent service to end-users. We have already completed partnership agreements with six ISPs and there are others ready to sign soon.”

SkyeVine, which has worked with engineering group Q-KON on this project, has a mission to provide a ubiquitous Internet service to Africa and to create a new standard of broadband service through the use of advanced satellite technology.
