Newtec’s Session Highlights at IBC2018

Article

As part of IBC2018, we will bring some of the satellite industry’s leading experts together to discuss the latest trends and evolutions.

Along with Newtec experts, these delegates will discuss some of the hottest topics affecting the whole satellite ecosystem, from advanced IP newsgathering and providing sustainable broadband to Satellite on-the-move, to Satellite and 5G and the premium session about New Space, we have no doubt participants will enjoy a lively discussion.

All-IP Newsgathering

NewsgatheringOf course, we couldn’t host seminars at IBC without discussing the broadcast industry, with specific focus on advanced IP newsgathering. The way that live news events are covered has evolved dramatically in recent years, and this is placing new demands on newsgathering equipment.

Our Broadcast Market Director Hans Massart will explain how broadcasters can leverage the power of IP to transmit video, voice and other services more efficiently over a single multiservice communication link.

OTT & Satellite

SatelliteChange is in the air across the world — 5G is set to revolutionize our lives and Over-The-Top (OTT) broadcasting is entering a golden age. With billions of connected devices set to burst onto the scene and into people’s hands, network boundaries will be pushed further than ever before to enable new types of applications and services across almost every industry and market growth is only set to increase. At the heart of enabling and enhancing these rapid developments is satellite connectivity — and the industry had better be ready.

5G

5GWhy Satellite plays a crucial role in the roll-out of 5G

5G will enable newer types of applications and services in the domains of health, transport, entertainment, machine-to-machine communications, and security, to name just a few. Within this future landscape dominated by wireless connectivity, Satellite communications will play an essential role. The satellite transport conduit will be integrated into the overall available communication map. Mobile Operators and Service providers will need to provide seamless connectivity between terrestrial and satellite. This interworking between terrestrial and satellite is now well recognized and promoted in the 3GPP standards, for example.

This session will discuss the challenges currently faced by Mobile Operators and their journey towards 5G viewed through the satellite perspective, the status of 3GPP standards, and the work currently led by ESA, Fraunhofer and Newtec.

New Space

New Space

NewSpace entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs of leading Satcom industry players are looking to push the boundaries of what’s possible, reduce prohibitive costs and remove other barriers to space entry. As work to create new markets and profit incentives begins and plans for new constellations emerge, don’t miss Newtec’s premium session at IBC with invited companies and Peter De Selding as moderator.
