APB: Teleport Continues to Provide Key Connectivity Matrix for Global Audiences

Flexibility, scalability and agility are some of the key functions modern teleports are expected to deliver today. As the satellite industry continues to re-invent itself, what are the key roles that teleports can play?

Shawn Liew interviewed leading industry players including Newtec's CEO Thomas Van den Driessche and Newtec's Broadcast Market Director Hans Massart. Read Shawn's report online in APB's August 2017 issue or download the report as PDF extract.

As a ground segment technology provider, Newtec has a very specific position within the satellite ecosystem. There is a lot of vertical integration going on within the satellite industry, but our role remains that of an equipment provider, working with service providers and operators to deliver the technology for their ground segments within the teleport.

It is essential that solutions for the modern teleport make efficient and effective use of the available space segment to ensure that these operators and service providers reduce costs and remain competitive. Education and training is also key to this, which is why Newtec also works with its customers in an advisory function, helping them find a solution that delivers results without unnecessary complexity.

A modern teleport will need to accommodate for this by providing ultimate flexibility and scalability through platforms such as Newtec Dialog® that can be ‘plugged in to’ to avoid unnecessary duplication of equipment.
