Breaking Through the 500 MBPS Barrier: Newtec Engineers Share Their Experiences

Monday 6 August 2012

Newtec's quest to break through the half a gigabit barrier (part 1).

Two Newtec engineers, Dave Suffys and Frederique Gelper, comment on the tests they recently did with a number of Newtec technologies at Intelsat's Fuchsstadt teleport. The result was a staggering 485 Mbps throughput over a 72 MHz C-band transponder on an Intelsat satellite, or nearly seven bits per hertz.

They explain how Clean Channel Technology, Bandwidth Cancellation Technology, and a next generation Newtec modem (MDM6000 Series) helped them to push the boundaries of what's possible today.

This is not where it ends... watch our engineers actually do it in part 2
