The need for more satellite capacity, the launch of new services and the continued drive to reduce OPEX prompted the industry to look for a successor to the DVB-S2 standard that was capable of increasing transmission efficiency. This higher transmission standard is now a reality. A new DVB satellite standard has been published that aims to usher in a new era of satellite communications, enable new services and enhance transmission efficiency – DVB-S2X. This panel, comprised of experts from both organizations that have implemented and avoided the new standard, will debate the industry’s need for DVB-S2X and identify its strengths and weaknesses for specific satellite applications and customers.
