The satellite industry is evolving at a dramatic pace. Over recent years, the satellite industry has been facing stiff competition from other methods of connectivity. This is putting a strain on satellite operators to provide cheaper services.
At the same time, the digital consumer is increasing demand for constant connectivity wherever they may be. While this opens up an opportunity for satellite to be a key enabler of that, it also comes with its fair share of challenges.
In 2019 we will see a number of mega constellations launching in Low Earth Orbit (LEO) and we will also see an increase in Internet of Things (IoT) applications which will lead to even more demand for constant connectivity, even on the move.
All of this means that satellite operators need to improve efficiency in order to compete with other methods connectivity while at the same time providing a reliable service for its customers across a range of different applications.
That is why this year’s satellite tour, run by the Satcoms Innovation Group (SIG), will focus on satellite innovation to enable satellite operators to improve operational efficiency and reduce impact, saving time and money. This will cover a wide range of topics and innovations, from better monitoring to AI applications.
The tour is led by Martin Coleman, Executive Director, the Satcoms Innovation Group and independent consultant with more than 40 years’ experience in the satellite industry. On each stand, he will be joined by an expert from that company able to give an in-depth view of current and future innovation.
As part of the SIG tour, we will show off our products and services that can help you to improve your offering.
